Group Work

During group work the students are able to work with others in order to do their assignment for the teacher. Therefore the teacher should have clear expectations on what the students are to do during group work, and the way to do this is use the CHAMPS worksheet in order to figure out what is acceptable behavior.

  • Conversation: Students are welcomed to speak during group work, but only at the voice level of 2 or less. The students are to only speak with other group mates, and no one else from other groups. Conversation can be constant during group work or until the students finishes their assignment.

  • Help: One group member from one group at a time is able to come up to the teacher if they are struggling with the assignment. If the student is waiting then they are to go back to their seat until they are able to get assistance from the teacher.

  • Activity: The students are to work on whatever assignment is assigned as group work for the entire time until they completely finished with the work.

  • Movement: Students have total freedom to roam around the room as long as they finish their work, but they still need permission from the teacher to go to the restroom.

  • Participation: The students should be discussing and participating with group mates in order to finish their assignment or task. The students are not to be wasting time doing nothing during this time.
