CHAMPS vs. Daily Reality Rating Scales

This tool is to assess how well the teacher may be doing within a class period with the use of the teaching management strategy, CHAMPS (Conversation, Help, Activity, Movement, Participation, Success). The teacher would describe what activity they are evaluating in each box where it indicates "Activity", and the teacher would then evaluate themselves based on how the students reacted to the different activities or transitions in class for the period observed. If the observed activity is less than a score of a four then the teacher should evaluate themselves in order to reteach the students the behavioral expectations for that certain activity or transition that is having problems. This should be done the fourth or fifth week of school and shortly after winter break as a reminder for the students of your expectations, to make a decision if the level of class structure is appropriate, and to increase motivation for students.
